To our supporters in the USA and beyond

In the past it has been extremely difficult for people in the USA to donate in US Dollars, mostly because of currency restrictions. Our new relationship with the Miracle Foundation, following their very thorough inspection and report, means that not only will HOPE benefit from their training resources, but that we now have a gateway for people in the USA to donate. The hope is that now we can contact anyone in the USA who could be potential donors/supporters, so if you live there, or know anyone there, try and get them on board and provide them with the link so that they can donate. The same would apply for other countries where US Dollars are the preferred currency.

Here's the link for you to use and pass on to friends and family:

Village News

Mothers’ Retirement Home - Now Finished. Excellent progress was made on this project - clearing of the site and digging foundations commenced in early February and the builders set off at a cracking pace. The building was finished and handed over with an opening ceremony in August. It incorporates 2 bedrooms, each with its own shower and toilet, a living room, and a staircase at the rear to allow access to a sitting out area on the roof.

Mothers have been excitedly following the progress and, in preparation for our first retirement, a new replacement mother is already undergoing training.

Our grateful thanks to all the kind donors who have helped to make this dream a reality. We have very nearly reached our fundraising target of £18,000!

Tharavadu Restaurant, Leeds

The Tharavadu Restaurant in Leeds is a staunch supporter of HOPE and has provided us with the opportunity to run fundraising events (while enjoying their excellent service and Keralan cuisine) as well as sponsoring some of our children. If you have not yet had the opportunity to pay them a visit, we recommend them highly.

We had a very successful HOPE Curry Meal on 25th June 2017. Lovely food and a great atmosphere. More than £2,300 was raised for HOPE. Our grateful thanks to all at Tharavadu for their generous efforts.

A novel way of supporting HOPE

Author and Hope supporter Patrick Moon has generously offered to give us £3.00 for every copy of his latest book sold to fellow Hope supporters.

The book – titled ‘What else is there for a boy like me?’ – is set in India’s Rajasthan and tells the story of Patrick’s efforts to help a talented young Indian boy from a primitive desert village get a better start in life. It shows how difficult it is – even with the best of intentions – to confront the weight of Indian society, by picking an individual out of India’s crowd.

One reviewer wrote: “funny, moving, gripping, and heart-rending - and much more besides. Its overwhelming strength is the ring of honesty it carries. This is unembellished truth, no soft edges, but deeply engaging.'

To order Patrick’s book for £9.99 (postage free) and secure the £3.00 donation to Hope, just visit his website and enter the word Hope in the promotional code box.

The offer applies equally to Patrick’s other books about wine and food in southern France, but it was ‘What else is there…?’ which we thought might strike a particular chord with our supporters.
